Harry and Marcone in Roman times. Vespasian, maybe, since that's what I'm most familiar with. Or I could try to swing Augustan, what with my historic crush on the emperor and all...
Anyway. Harry as private informer, Greek family ties (what with the wise tying in with the wizard and all...) through his mother, Roman citizenship through his father.
Takes job for, let's say, Marcone's daughter who is convinced that someone is trying to kill her. He humors the little girl and takes her back home to papa. Marcone is a newly minted Senator, come up from the equestrian ranks. Married to Ms. Demeter for the status her Old School Senatorial family brings.
hand wavy plot things:
Someone really is trying to kill the daughter.
Harry was being raised by his 'uncle' Justin and ran away. Taken in by former slave (Eb) turned physician(?).
Harry and Marcone get alone like a house on fire, sort of.
Morgan as vigile
Karrin as...idk. think about this one.
Marcone is still a 'mob' boss.
It all ends in Harry/Marcone.
